Rafa Mir has insisted his innocence as Valencia cut the 27-year-old from their squad for their next two games against Atletico Madrid and Girona.
Valencia forward Rafa Mir, 27, has release a statement denying his innocence in a sexual assault allegation that saw him arrest and held for two nights by police before being grant bail to fight the case.
According to previous reports, Rafa Mir told court that he saw only scratches on his accuser, despite the injuries and blood, before the 27-year-old forward apologised for breaking Valencia players’ curfew and issued a statement reiterating his innocence.
‘After some deliberation, I would like to make it clear that I am innocent and reiterate the content of the statement that my lawyer Jaime Campaner issued as soon as he was able to act in accordance with the charges. The case has taken an important turn that shows that the charges have no merit.’
‘I have full trust in the justice system of this country, and I have cooperated from the beginning in clarifying the facts.’

Valencia are reportedly still holding on to the presumption of innocence of Rafa Mir, but he has been fined for breaching the club’s curfew and order to train alone until coach Ruben Baraja deems him worthy of playing again. However, the 27-year-old will not be involve in Sunday’s trip to Atletico Madrid or next week’s home clash with Girona.
